Beat the Bottle
Worldwide, we buy a million plastic bottles every minute. With only a small amount of these bottles being recycled, the environmental impact of plastic pollution is there for all to see.
Get drastic on plastic
Sydney Water is committed to protecting and caring for our beaches and waterways. During 2016-17 we removed nearly 2,000 cubic metres of litter from waterways, including 1 million plastic bottles.
Drink containers are a huge part of the problem. With the Beat the Bottle campaign, we want to raise awareness of the fact that drinking tap water is a simple way we can all personally reduce our reliance on single use plastics.

Making a difference
Across our launch events at North Wollongong and Manly Cove, we collected 356kg of rubbish. At our Parrmatta event, we collected 167kg of rubbish in just one hour.
Many groups are out during weekends across Sydney, cleaning up our waterways.
